uring the month long fashion week circus fashion insiders stroll between striking scenarious and extremely outrageous looks but rarely they get the chance to watch something similar to the Dries Van Noten fall 2016 fashion show. An incredible happening put so well together thanks to the alchemy between looks and location: Palais Garnier.
The runway, set between the stage and backstage of the Operà, was framed by a creaky wooden floor and a magnificent chandelier. When the giant curtain was dropped, it revealed a group of models that resembled an army.
Following the continuous between scenario and collection, coat an jackets, characterized by clean and austere shapes, were embossed with ranks and insignia inspired by XIX century military clothing as models came directly from the launch of the Operà with Napoleon III.
The cohesion of the whole show linked it to one of the plays that takes place on the stage of the Operà and models stepped on the creaky slats just like dancers did more than a century ago.
