During the exhibition “Tim Walker: Story Teller“, the homonymous photographer’s approach to his work was summed up in this way:
“When Tim Walker turns fashion shoots into fairytales, familiar landascapes become unmapped territory, familiar faces half-remembered.Whenever wonder runs low and with imagination constrained by truth and certainty, Walker’s photographs remind us how to dream again.”
Despite Tim Walker is not primarly interested by fashion -in fact, you can find extracts from his portfolio at prestigious museums in London- you always have his photos on Vogue, i-D and Love Magazine. According to the British photographer “every picture is a fantasy” and he tries to involve models and viewer in that process and indeed he can carry us into a surreal dimension.
I love fashion photography but if I have to think about my personal conception of fashion photography my mind goes directly to Tim Walker’s work so I decided to make this post to collect some of his inspiring photos. Here they are:
